Today we are joining a series called Learning through Adventure hosted by Bambini Travel.
We went on a major adventure this past weekend: we went caravan camping for the first time!
We borrowed Granpa’s caravan and off we went to a holiday camping farm called Soetdoring.
Camping is not just fun, but provides lots of opportunities for impromptu learning!
Being out in nature is the best for learning about nature. We went on a nature hike to see where the animals drink water. We pet a tame Blesbuck, but learned to be careful of its sharp horns. We saw lots of small bugs and ants(one which gave brother a scare when he climbed on his hand). We saw bird nests and all kinds of bird species too!
Part of camping, is making your own food! We helped making food: breaking eggs for breakfast, helping dad with the braai(bbq) and doing dishes too!
We learned about safety: never walked(or ride) alone. Lella was a good big sister, looking out for her brother. We were allowed to buy our own ice cream at the little shop, learning to work with money and shop etiquette too.
We had loads of fun: riding our bikes, playing putt-putt, staying out of the sun in the heat of the day(keeping busy with a new batch of microwave playdough and other fun stuff mommy brought along) and of course swimming!
What a fun adventure! Great family time, unplugging and impromptu learning to the boot!
We might just have to go camping again soon…
What a fun adventure you had camping! This looks like quite the campsite. Thanks so much for joining the series!
Thanks for hosting!
