We have a row of lavender plants in our garden we often use for all kinds of projects and gifts like this Bath Salt. Today we used it for cutting practice(and to make something useful out of it)!
I set out a basket and scissors outside and waited for the kids to notice it. It did not take long!
They went straight into cutting/harvesting the lavender flowers:
This is how much we cut today:
Then it was cut into smaller pieces. The aroma was quite strong, my 5 year old SPD child does not like strong smells, so she opted not to cut any more, but my 2.5 year old liked the fragrance and the cutting part too!
He is only now getting used to a scissors and keep on turning his thumb downwards. I placed a Batman(his favorite superhero at the moment) bandage around that thumb and reminded him often while cutting to keep his Batman finger pointed upwards. We still need lots of practice as you can see!
We used the cut lavender to make fragrance bags for our cupboards:
These make lovely and frugal gifts too!
I hung them in the cupboards and added some to drawers too!
A fun and frangranceful cutting activity AND we made something useful too!
