Popcorn balls, a nostalgic treat from my childhood and só easy to make! Only 3 ingredients and you have a yummy treat, plus your kids will love to help you make them!

I remember my grandmother made these simple popcorn balls for us as children and we loved it! One can modify it to suit a particular theme for a party. Use food coloring for different colors or a variety of sprinkles to your theme of choice. Think orange with spooky sprinkles(or a Twix as a pumpkin stump) for Halloween. Red and green with star sprinkles for Christmas, blue and red coloring with stars for 4th of July, pastel colors and shape it into egg shapes for Easter… (Also see this popcorn recipe!)
Place the popcorn balls into cupcake liners, use skewers, similar to toffee apples, or a cute cupcake box as party favors. These popcorn balls make great treats for a baking or entrepreneurial day too.
What you need:
- Popped popcorn( we used 400g of kernels here, but 2x microwave bags of popcorn should do the trick)
- 200g of marshmallows
- 60g butter
- Optional: sprinkles
- Optional:
- Foood coloring
You can try Marshmallow Fluff instead of marshmallows and butter, but I have not tried that yet.
What to do:
Melt your marshmallows and butter together in the microwave for about 1 minute and stir it until it is a liquid consistency.
Pour the melted marshmallows over the popcorn and stir until most of it is covered.

Note: This is a sticky and messy step. Test it for heat before the next step if your kids are helping. Spray your hands with oil spray or rub butter so that it is not as sticky. Form balls of popcorn, compacting it quite well. Roll into sprinkles if you wish.

Add to cupcake liners, boxes, or skewers. Leave it to harden a bit for a half-hour or close it up in an airtight container to keep it for up to a week, that is if it lasts so long in your house! It never does in our house, lol!

Enjoy making popcorn balls for every and any occasion!
