Every two weeks or so I make a quick batch of Playdough in the microwave. This time the kids wanted green again and wanted to make playdough cookies!
We got the pony beads out to decorate the cookies, and later used it for counting and sorting too!
Did you know that rolling dough and pressing shapes requires hand strength. That same hand strength is needed for writing one day, so let your little one play with playdough often.
Use playdough and beads for playful counting, subtracting too.
Sorting the beads into colours is great for matching skills and using small beads is great for fine motor skills too!
Playdough is a lovely manipulative toy for young children to learn with while playing. Imaginative play like demonstrated in this post is great for learning. It is best to let your child play without too much interference. Even though the learning is child led, learning still takes place, and sometimes this type of learning will “stick” more.
