We are having a Frozen party for my soon-to-be 5 year old, and she wanted an Olaf on her cake. And here we have him- an Olaf from homemade marshmallow fondant!
I’ve never worked with fondant, never mind making my own! But, I have to confess, I had help. The fondant recipe I got from The Bearfoot Baker and the tutorial to make an Olaf from Jessica Harris Cake Design. I know, it does not look exactly perfect, but when my daughter saw it, she immediately recognized him, and was very chuffed! She even attempted to make one herself.
The fondant is a little hard to work with, since it has a rubbery feel, but it does taste nice. The Olaf cake topper will go onto a 3 tiered cake with 3 different shades of blue icing, or let’s rather say: that is the plan! Let’s see if it can be done!
More on the cake, and the party decorations next week, so do keep an eye out for it on this blog!
