As I start teaching my 6 year old English letters and phonics as a second language, I need easy worksheets to do that AND expand his vocabulary PLUS make it fun. I put together these I-spy beginning sounds worksheets to pull out to revise a sound.

Since English is his second language, my boy was only exposed to it orally up till now. He will start schooling in Australia in July and must catch up quick. We use these I-spy worksheets after loads of hands-on learning like oral vocab games like I-spy, writing in sand and playdough and of course Playdough Letters Mazes!

We are taking it slow for now, only introducing 2 to 3 sounds a week and following the Phono-Graphix method. We started with letters c, a , t so that he could read and spell at least one word after the first week. Next up is o and p. Then you have more options for CVC words. Do see our CVC booklet I’ll be using for assessment purposes later on.
