The next literacy resource in our Teach me Series is ready! The CVC Words Booklet! Use this booklet alongside your phonics program and the Sight Words Booklet to practice, revise and assess your child/students CVC word knowledge.

CVC words booklet
This CVC words booklet follows a progressive pattern. Starting with a combination of vowels and consonants, C A T O P, so that short words can be read and spelled from the start after introducing only these 5 letters! Then, it moves onto 3 more letters and so on. With each level, the combination of letters provide opportunity to form more CVC words. (This order of letters is according to the Phono-Graphix method). There are 8 levels until you have worked through the alphabet. One can focus on a level per week or progress through the levels quicker according to the child’s ability.

The Tap, Tap, Tap, Slide method is encouraged here. This is a segmenting and blending method that helps with the reading of words and very important skill to have when reading and spelling. It is also a method that is proven to work with young children because it involves more than one sense- looking and tapping. After segmenting and blending the word, build it with letter tiles and then write it on the lines provided.

Also find a word search page in the booklet. It is a fun addition to the booklet and great to do after working through the booklet. And if you need more fun activities to go along with this booklet, check out our CVC word Mazes! cvc booklet3

Included, as an insert, are the letter tiles. Take this insert out, laminate, cut the tiles and build the words as you go along.
