Crafting with preschoolers can be fun, but it can be challenging too! Especially if you have 20+ very eager students who wants to participate!

(Read about how I managed my class with Group Rotation.)

Here are  10 easy, non-seasonal easy crafts that I did with my preschool class a few years back!

TP Roll Firefighters

The first one is simply a printable from DLTK together with a toilet paper roll. Paint the roll, Colour the printable, cut and paste!

Paper Plate Fish Bowl

You need:

  • Paper plate
  • Blue paint and sponges
  • Rice
  • Paper triangles
  • Sequins
  • Glue
  • Cellophane

Paint the paper plate(cut like shown in the picture) with sponges. Glue on rice as the ocean sand. Use the triangle paper to make fish. Decorate with sequins and cellophane.

Cardboard roll Zebra

What you need:

  • Cardboard roll
  • Black and white paint
  • Black cardboard
  • Googly eyes

Paint the roll in black and white stripes. Once dry, bend it like in the picture(you might want to glue it down too). Make a slit on the back for the mane. Use the cardboard and cut a thin rectangular shape out and let the kids snip it a bit. Do the same with the fringe, and add the ears and eyes.

Tiger Stick Puppet

You will need:

  • Large craft stick
  • Circle cardboard(face)
  • Three heart cut-outs(ears and nose)
  • Pipecleaner(tail)
  • Orange paint
  • Black marker
  • Glue

Paint the stick. Make the face. Add the face to the stick. Add black stripes. Bend the pipe cleaner around for a tail.

Corn “Mielie” Craft

What you need:

  • Bubble wrap
  • Green paper
  • Base paper/cardboard
  • Yellow paint
  • Glue

Cut the bubble wrap into a corn shape. Stick this onto a cardboard, and use as a stamp. Press the corn stamp into paint. Press onto paper. Cut the green paper into three strips and curl the ends. Glue down the other end.

Paper Plate Shell

What you need:

  • Quarter of a paper plate
  • Punch
  • String
  • Chalk

Colour the plate by making lines with the chalk. Make holes as shown in the picture. Let the kids lace through the holes using the string.

Balloon Collage Craft

What you need:

  • Scrap pieces of gift wrap
  • String
  • Glue
  • Glitter/glitter glue

Let the kids cut the ovals using a bent toilet roll to make markings as to where to cut. Glue in random order. Add string from the balloons to one point. Add a glitter bow.

Drip-painted Paper Playe Butterfly

What you need:

  • Two quarter paper plates
  • Droppers
  • Food colouring
  • Water
  • Peg
  • Pipe cleaner
  • Googly eyes

Mix the food colouring into water. Drip some onto the plates. Fasten the two plates using the peg. Add eyes and feelers to the peg.

Gift Picture from Gift Wrap

What you need:

  • Scrap gift wrap
  • Glue
  • Glitter

Let the kids cut a square or rectangle out of the gift wrap. Glue onto a paper. Add a line of glue as shown in the picture to make the string and bow. Add glitter to the glue and shake the excess off.

Paper Plate and Pasta Lion

What you need:

  • Paper plate
  • Pasta
  • Yellow and brown paint
  • Glue

Paint the paper plate and pasta. Glue the pasta around the plate as the mane. Paint the lions face.
Easy, but really enjoyable crafts for preschoolers!
