Do you play games as a family? I grew up playing lots of board games, and love games(I’m a bit of a scrabble geek)! Up to now, my kids have been a bit young to understand proper rules, but my 5 year old is starting to get games with rules, so we are starting to play easy-to-understand-games with her.
Since we are joining in on the series: 12 Days of Christmas I made this dominos game combining two of my favourite craft materials: washi tape and craft sticks!
I used two different sized craft sticks and different Christmas themed washi tape rolls.
I taped the same design on two big sticks and two small sticks, so that there are the same amount of sticks of each design.
You can change up the theme of the Washi tape to fit with a different theme too!
Play the game by dividing the sticks amongst the players. Make a train: matching the same pictures at the ends of the sticks. The player with no sticks left first is the winner.
Younger children that does not understand the rules of the game can simply match the pattern on their own.
A fun , easy to understand game. And believe it or not, has educational value too! Visual discrimination skills are needed to distinguish between patterns during this game. Visual discrimination skills are needed for reading, writing and maths too!
Have fun playing this as a family this Season!
