Help your child to make this cute bunny butt Easter hat for their hat parade!

Bunny Butt Easter hat pin

Do your kids have an Easter or Spring hat parade at school each year? My son wanted a “bunny butt” hat and this is how we made this easy, but adorable hat.

What you need:

  • Hat
  • Shredded green paper(grass)
  • Easter eggs(you can paint plain ones)
  • White and pink Felt or craft foam(feet)
  • Pink or white pompom(tail)
  • Cotton wool(bunny butt)
  • A round object
  • Glue gun or fast-drying glue
Materials needed

What to do:

Use your round object(we’ve used the lid of an aromatic diffuser here, but one could use any round object, even a cut tennis ball) and glue cotton wool all around. Add the pompom tail. Cut the feet from the felt or craft foam and attach them too.

Next, glue on the eggs. Your child can decide where they want the eggs. My son decided it must hand from the top as it already came with string. You might want to attach them directly to the hat around the top or side, or, on the rim of the hat on the “grass”. Or even let it hang next to the face like those cork hats, although it might be a bit annoying since they move as you move, lol!

eggs

If you have plain polystyrene eggs, paint them and then add glitter to them. Attach ribbons/string if you’d like.

grass

Attach the grass all around the rim and on top of the hat. My son decided to keep it rather plain and did not add any other details. If you do have smaller eggs or other small decorative pieces to add, do that now. Perhaps your child wants to pretty it up? Add another ribbon around the hat or place flowers in between the grass. That is totally up to your child’s creativity.

Easter hat

Lastly, add the bunny on the top, on the grass.

And there you have a cute bunny butt Easter hat to wear for the hat parade! PS: Have you seen this garden basket hat?
