Make a cute garden basket hat for your child’s next hat parade or a silly hat day!

Garden basket Hat

Here is what to do:

Use a round box as the base and a small basket on top.

Box and Basket

Cut a circle out with a craft knife so that the basket will fit in snugly.

Basket in Box

Around the base of the basket, glue pompoms all around the handle. Bend pipe cleaners around the handle and attach with birds and butterfly-shaped buttons.

Add feathers wherever you’d like!

Then, add a box inside the basket and make holes for the flowers.

These flowers are made from flowers buttons and pipe cleaners, but you can use artificial flowers or even real ones.

Bunny butt

Now make a bunny butt. Use a large pompom with a small one for the tail and two feet cut from craft foam.

Inside basket

Add shredded green paper as grass.  Round it off with a button worm and gardening utensils or whatever you have on hand.

The hat was a bit “top-heavy” so I added a piece of foam on the inside of the box and two ribbons that will be tied under the chin to keep the hat in place.

And there you have a cute garden basket hat for the hat parade!

That came out lovely! A parade sounds like a fun spring idea – I wish we had one of those!
