Teaching older kids long vowel sounds can *sometimes* be a bit boring. Spice it up with this (free) Triangle Challenge, the perfect long vowel game that revises long vowel spelling options with a fun twist!

The idea of this triangle challenge is not to look for rhyming words (although there are lots of it) but rather to look for similar long vowels- similar in sound and spelling. Then, fit those words together to form a picture.
How to play:
Divide the triangles up between the players. The player with the most triangles can start by placing it in the middle. The next player must fit a triangle to the same vowel spelling option and so on. At the end, the picture can be anything you see, so each player will interpret the shape as a different picture. It is interesting to see it the way someone else sees it(almost like finding a picture in the clouds). An individual player can intentionally try to make a picture, but still use the main rule(fitting same sound spelling options together).

There are 4 words of each spelling option, thus each time you play the picture will come out differently. The biggest challenge is to fit the triangles together to form a closed shape.
