Put together a tiny ten frame busy box for your young child to explore mathematical concepts on the go or a personal box for each child in your class.
I do love making up busy boxes and when I found this tiny box my mind was spinning with ideas on what to use it for. I finally decided to make this tiny ten frame busy box!
This is a tiny box, that fits into my hand, and is perfect to take along in the car, or to keep a few in your maths center at school. You can get it HERE. (Case dimensions 5.75” L x 4” W x 1.25” H)
I added some counters(these were from a local shop’s promotion a while back, but you can get similar ones HERE), ten frame template, printed numbers and dice and also stick with sums of 10(or bonds of ten). The printed ones I got from an old worksheet. You could find similar ones online or use these free printables from The Kindergarten Connection and just adjust the size to fit your box.
A child can draw a stick and figure out the answer by using the ten frame and counters. Or use the number or dice printed cards to play around with the counters on the ten frame template. All the items could be used by drawing a stick, finding the answer using the counters on the ten frame, and then finding the matching number and dice on the cards.
This busy box can be used as-is, or use it as an aid when doing math assignments. Change the counters every now and then to make a “new” box too!
