This is a noun sorting cookie sheet activity I used for my Gr. 4 students to sort nouns into the different categories.
You can easily make your own. All you need is a cookie sheet, Washi tape, nouns you printed and laminated and some magnets.
I re-used some magnets that once came with a Top Gear Magazine. And others that we use with an animal magnet book.
Then I made other noun magnets, the first batch I simply printed and laminated. And attached magnets(old promotional magnets) to the back. Then I had to make place nouns(which I forgot to print, and I do not have a printer at home), so I simply made some labels, stuck them on the magnets, and voila! (I actually like these ones better.)
Before I stuck the Washi tape, I placed the magnets into their categories to see how much space is needed for each. Obviously, you can add how many nouns you want. Change it up to familiar names and places too.
My students enjoyed sorting the nouns after the explanation on the different categories. Mistakes were easily corrected. And it is a great visual activity, I am sure next week with revision, they will remember the outlay of the categories better than the actual lesson.
