Your toddler or preschooler will love these I-spy Christmas cards to develop number recognition and counting skills!

Young children love to count and often do so during play. After all, play is the best method for learning! During the festive time, provide more intentional play and learning opportunities with all the lovely Christmas-themed activities that are available. Use these FREE I-spy cards to extend that learning throughout the Christmas season.
How to prepare this activity
Simply print the I-spy cards and laminate them if you wish for them to be durable. You can also use a dry-erase pocket. Provide a dry-erase marker and you’re all set!

How to use the I-spy cards
Pick a card, this can be a random card or you could work in number order. The cards are very simple as it contains words and pictures of the objects to be “spied”. Your child can “read” it easily: “I spy (count the candies on the tree) ___ candies”.
The child then circles the number that they counted. Work through all the cards.
Extension: after completing all the cards, you can ask questions like “which tree had the most pictures?”, “which tree had the least?”, “how many more reindeer were there compared to gingerbread men?”, etc. These questions will help your child with critical thinking, problem-solving and simple mind maths.
