Here are two easy Valentines polymer clay crafts to make with your older kids! Great as gifts any time of the year too!

I’ve been playing with polymer clay over the long holidays and I must say, I quite enjoy it! I might just have to add a few more posts about it in the future. Polymer clay is something kids of all ages will enjoy, although putting all the little parts together to make earrings or keyrings takes patience. I would recommend it for older kids. Tweens, or even teens, will love to make their own, personalized earrings or keyrings. It might just be a good entrepreneurial idea too!
How to make polymer clay items
You will need:
- polymer clay
- clay tools(shape cutters etc.)
- earring or keyring pieces/jewelry hardware
- jewelry tools(wire cutters etc.)
- jewelry string
- other bits if you want
- oven or airfryer
Steps
Make sure your work area is clean. I like to work on a piece of baking paper and then transfer it to a cookie sheet to cure in the oven. Then, decide what colors and shapes you want to make, keeping in mind the end result.
I have used a small heart clay cutter and some other small cutters for the earrings. For the keyrings I have simply rolled beads and heart shapes by hand. Some were the original color, others I have mixed to get a unique effect.

Important: After you have made all the pieces, poke holes with a thin piece of wire where you would need it. This is done before baking.
Time to bake/cure the clay. 120’C for 15 minutes in a conventional oven or 120’C for 12 minutes in an airfryer.
Let it cool down before adding the jewelry hardware and other bits to finish off your earrings or keyrings. Patterns always look nice but play around with your pieces until you are happy with the result.

There you go, lovely Valentines polymer clay crafts to make for yourself or as gifts(think Mother’s Day or teacher appreciation too)! Or start your own business and sell your handiwork!
