Earth Day is tomorrow and this whole month we are focussed on recycling, reusing or upcycling items!
Today I’m showing you how to turn ordinary tin cans into pretty cutlery holders, perfect for taking it outside!
What you need:
- Tin cans
- Pretty gift wrap
- Contact paper
- Rope/lace/string or anything decorative
What to do:
Cut a strip of gift paper and a strip of contact paper to fit around your can. I just rolled it around before cutting and guessed how long it should be, but you could measure it by using a string: wrap the string around to get the circumference and just measure the rest with a ruler.
Roll the gift paper around the tin first and glue the ends together. Now roll the contact paper over. This part is quite tricky, but quicker. If you want to stick the gift wrap to the contact paper first, it might be easier.
Add decorative items to finish it off.
Add the cutlery and place onto a dish or tray to carry it to the patio, perfect for a Summer day braai(BBQ)!
So pretty, and not too difficult, right?
These cutlery tin cans would make a great gift too:)
