Today we excited to be joining the Junk Play Challenge, where each day, a junk material is used for play or crafting. Today we made a toy from old magazines: Tic Tac Toe!
Tic Tac Toe is such a simple game, but loved by all. My 4.5 year old has never played it, but when I explained it, she caught on quickly.
It was just as simple to make. I searched for two kind of pictures in magazines, but three of the same picture. I found these cute cow pics and teeth ones.
I cut them out and stuck them on a round red paper. Giving it more a uniformed look. I chose a picture from the magazine for the background that is not too busy. One could use a page with plain text for background too. This was also stuck on a red paper.
I drew lines on the background pic for the game to be played on.I laminated these. The circles did not come out perfectly, but it is still useable.
Lastly I added Velcro dots to the back of the circles and also in the blocks.
Ready to be played with:
This DIY Tic Tac Toe game is going in the car. A perfect game for when we will be traveling later in April.
AND it basically cost nothing, since I had the laminate sheets and Velcro dots already, and reused old magazines!
Great junk play idea!
