Make a Spooky handprint and photo keepsake this Halloween with your child to treasure the memories. This salt dough keepsake makes a great gift too!
It is another month- October, and time for another handprint and photo keepsake! (We have quite a collection by now) This month it is a spooky one!
So, we used our salt dough recipe we always use: 1 cup of salt with 1 cup of flour, mixed with half a cup of water.
This was flattened about 1cm in thickness, and the other tools(knife, bamboo stick and alphabet cookie stamps) were placed ready to be used:
In comes the kid, with the hand?
We only used four fingers for this print. I cut around the handprint to form a ghostly shape. Then, a hole was cut for the photo with a small glass. Lastly, the date was stamped and the hole at the top for the string was made:
This went into the oven for 3 hours at low heat(for me it was 80’C, 160’F more or less). You don’t have to bake it, it can be left for a few days to air dry too.
The photo(we did a black and white scared face one) and the string were added. I wanted to leave it as seen in the picture below, but my daughter wanted to paint it white, like a ghost, you know? (We just used normal craft paint)

A special spooky handprint & photo keepsake, perfect for October!
Another keepsake perfect for October is this pumpkin one! Check it out!
