Set up a fun tray of pompom play and let your preschooler practice color recognition, sorting and fine motor skills too!
Pompoms are great, versatile and not at all expensive, and you get the nicest colours in different sizes also! We use pompoms for different kind of activities (will one day do a post on all the ways one can play with it), but today we sorted and matched colours.
This is so easy to set up, and because of the bright colours, Lella jumped right into playing.
We used pompoms to practise #finemotorskils and #coloursorting, #colourmatching.
The containers are actually empty paint tubs, but one can use any container and simply place a coloured card inside or around the container. As long as the colours are also vibrant like the pompoms to make matching and sorting easy for even a young toddler.
To pick up the pompoms she used a tweezer at first and also a spoon. Both great for fine motor skill practise and hand eye coordination. At the end she got tired and cheated by just using her fingers. Ah well! Got some practise in.
