Oh Holy Night Sensory Bin

Oh Holy Night, the stars are shining brightly… I love this carol, and today, as part of the Christmas Carols Sensory Bin Blog Hop, we had some fun with stars and lights!

I coloured rice black, added beads strings plus some silver and gold stars. Then I added Christmas lights: a string of lights around and starlight that changes colours!

setup

A sensory bin activity should be open-ended, thus, not parent-led. One is allowed to ask questions(to extend language) of the children’s observations, but let them play how they want to play.

Here I asked my son to show me a small and large star.

Here, he threw the rice on the stars and it made a sound like rain.

The kids hid the stars for each other to find, and the stars were sorted according to size and encircled with the bead strings.

We played after dark so the lights were bright and shiny(excuse the pun), but that made taking pictures quite difficult. I hope you get the idea though!

What a beautiful sensory bin-this would be so nice to do right before bed especially with the carol playing in the background. Thanks for sharing!
