Use newspaper and make a pretty newspaper heart collage as decor for Valentine’s Day or to give as a gift to a loved one.
Today I’m showing you two ways to use the humble newspaper to make pretty heart crafts. Find this Newspaper Heart Garland over at Red Ted Art as part of their 31 Days of Love series. The cutouts from the garland I used to make this simple newspaper heart collage.
This was the way I cut out the hearts and corners (details in the post on Red Ted Art’s blog):
I used a red textured paper, the cutouts, a marker and small double-sided tape blocks(not pictured, similar to these):
I played around with the hearts and found a design I liked before using the double-sided blocks to secure it down. The hearts with letters was not raised but glued flat to the paper to give the collage a bit of depth. The letters spell LIEF which means LOVE(obviously) in my language. Lastly, two triangle corners were added to finish the collage.
One could add more bling to the project, or paint the hearts with watercolours to add more colour to it if you feel like it. This is just a simple example of how newspaper cutouts can be used to make a pretty collage. This newspaper heart collage in turn can be used as a card as well!
