Making fudge with your kids might sound daunting to you, but with this 3-ingredient microwave fudge recipe it is really easy. Make yummy fudge in just 10 minutes and no need fo a candy themometer!
I remember making this fudge recipe in my hubby’s(at that time he was only my boyfriend) tiny microwave in his dorm room, many moons ago. The whole floor would smell divine and obviously, all the guys would want their share. Not that hubby shared it, lol! I could have started a good business in that time if I didn’t need to study…
Anyhow, we have used this recipe a lot because it really is so quick and easy, plus no-fail(we had a few fails with stovetop versions). Although this fudge is not super smooth like our Easy Fudge recipe, it is still a good alternative.
- 125g Butter
- 500g(2 cups) Castor Sugar
- 1 can of Condensed Milk
- Optional: 1 teaspoon vanilla, caramel essence, peppermint flavouring or golden syrup. Or, you could experiment with chocolate chucks, cookie crumbles etc.
We prefer the plain kind of fudge, so I must be honest and say I have not experimented with different flavours. We do like to add a bit of golden syrup because it does give it a specific taste that we like. It also makes it a bit sweeter(not that you need extra sweetness) and darker too.
Side note: if you do not have castor sugar, just use normal sugar and whizz it in your food processor for a minute. Not too long though, it will become icing sugar!
Add the basic 3 ingredients. Pop it into the microwave for around 2 minutes until the butter is melted.
Give it a good stir. Pop it back into the microwave for 8 minutes. Do NOT stop to stir it.
When done, leave it for a minute to settle. Add your optional flavourings and stir well for a minute. If you like a smooth finish, you can use an electric beater here.
Place the fudge into a deep dish to cool down(might be good for an adult to do this since it is very hot). If you want to be fancy, you can even drizzle melted chocolate over the top now. Once cooled, break into pieces and enjoy your microwave fudge!

- 1 can of condensed milk
- optional flavourings
- Add the butter, sugar and condensed milk to a deep microwave-safe bowl.
- Microwave for 2 minutes until butter is melted.
- Stir well.
- Microwave for 8 minutes. DO NOT stir.
- Leave for one minute to settle.
- Add flavourings and mix well for at least a minute.
- Pour into a deep dish to cool down and harden.
- Break into pieces.
Use an electric beater to beat for at least one minute after microwaving the last time for a smoother texture.
