It is Rhyme Time! We’ve been running with this series from March this year and learned 10 rhymes already!
This time we are learning ‘Little Miss Muffet’!
We “played” the rhyme with a dolly, the pipecleaner spider from our previous rhyme time post Incy Wincy Spider, a round pillow(which was the closest I could get to a tuffet) and a porridge bowl plus spoon.
My idea was to “work” on empathy. (My daughter has a bit of trouble with this.) How did Miss Muffet feel when she saw the spider, what can we do to make her feel better etc.
My 2.5 year old son immediately went to find daddy(Ken)! So sweet how this shows you he feels safest with daddy. My daughter needed a bit more coaxing, but she did realize a hug could help Miss Muffet feel better!
Together with empathy, we also worked on some vocab. A tuffet and curds & whey are not words my kids are familiar with, but explained like this, they sure got it!
That whole day they were singing ‘Little Miss Muffet’!
Later I found my son playing again, and look, the spider caught the spoon!
A fun way to learn our rhyme for sure!
