Do you have an early reader that likes Lego? Then this Lego words building is perfect for you PLUS it comes with free CVC AND High Frequency Words cards!

This a a great activity word word building. It develops phonemic awareness, segmenting and blending- the building blocks of reading and spelling!
Phonemic awareness– hearing each sound that makes up the word(reading the word and looking for the letter blocks) . Segmenting– breaking up the word in sounds(looking for the the letter blocks).Blending– putting the sounds together to make the word(spelling the word with the letter blocks).

The Lego person “says” a word and the child must build the word. We use the Lego stand I made for a tablet(see details here) and then use the letters that are stuck on the actual Lego blocks with BluTac/Prestik.

You can get the FREE CVC cards(with a set of letters) and High Frequency Words(Australian list) also with its own letter set on our Freebies page, follow instructions at the end of the post.

The CVC words have blue frames, and the High Frequency/Sight words have red frames to make it easier to sort. I do add some of the Sight words to the CVC pack when word building the CVC words, to incorporate the sight words. You can do that too, or use the two packs separately.

Have fun word building with Lego!
