Glitter Christmas Tree Decorations pin

These glitter decorations are fun for kids to make and look so pretty on the Christmas tree! You can use environmentally friendly glitter if you’d prefer.

Snowflakes

You will need:

  • Popsicle sticks (five per snowflake)
  • Craft Paint
  • Glue
  • Modge podge
  • Glitter (in same colours as your chosen paint)
  • String
Snowflakes How-to

What to do:

Paint both sides of the popsicle sticks in silver, white or blue. Let dry. Glue the sticks onto each other, by starting with a plus sign and layering over each other as shown above, ending with a plus sign again. Once the paint is dry, paint a layer of modge podge over the entire snowflake. Sprinkle a layer of glitter over the podge, let dry and do the reverse side. When sprinkling glitter, work over a clean sheet of paper so you can save the excess glitter for later.

Let dry, shake off excess glitter. Tie a piece of string in a loop and glue it onto the back of the snowflake.

Baubles

You will need:

  • Polysterene balls
  • Wooden skewers
  • Craft paint
  • Modge Podge
  • Glitter (in the same colours as your chosen paint)
  • Brads / Splitpins
  • String
Baubles

What to do:

Insert the wooden skewer into the polystyrene ball (This is an easy way to paint the balls). Paint in the colours of choice. Stick the skewers into a container with a bit of sand to let dry. Once the paint is dry, paint the ball with a layer of podge.

Dip the entire ball in a container with glitter, turning the ball slowly in the glitter. Let dry. Shake off excess glitter onto a sheet of paper and save it for later.

Baubles decorations

Make a loop knot into a piece of string. Remove the wooden skewer from the ball and secure the string with a split pin or brad. If the hole left by the skewer is too large, simply make a new hole next to it for the pin and touch up with a bit of glitter or secure with a small blob of glue.
