I’m sharing this super cute football handprint and photo keepsake this month, specifically as a Father’s Day gift, but, it is so adorable, just make it whenever for whatever!
If you are a regular reader of this blog you know I love keepsakes. I have set out a challenge for myself to make a new one each month. So far, so good! You can see it all HERE!
This month I chose one that dad will love: a football keepsake!
I used the regular salt dough recipe(1 cup of cake/all-purpose flour together with 1 cup of salt, with half a cup of water, more or less) mixed with 1 tablespoon of cocoa for color.
This was mixed together(my daughter helped with the mixing). I used the same oval bowl we used for the Easter Keepsakes, to make the shape of the football. Then came the handprint.
After the handprint, a star-shaped cookie cutter was used for the photo frame. I used a sharp bamboo stick for the lines(and the holes for the string) and my favourite Cookie stamp letters to add the date.
This went into the oven(80’C) for about 3 hours. I turned it around and left it overnight to dry out some more. It did change Colour, a bit more light. If you want to have a darker colour, consider adding more cocoa or paint it afterwards. The photo and string were added last.
A lovely keepsake AND gift for Father’s Day, won’t you say?
