You know my obsession with felt, now check out this play food set! How completely adorable is this felt Sushi a colleague made?
I HAD to have a set after a Market day at our school, since it is just too cute! I made the printable Menu(free for you, see download instructions below), to use for imaginative play! I do not eat Sushi at all, so forgive me for not adding too much detail trying to explain the pieces.
I also do not have templates, but tried to photograph(with permission) the pieces so that you can use the images as inspiration. It is just too good not to share!
Most of the pieces only used felt and thread. She used tiny black beads for the “Caviar Nigiri”, clever right?
With a bit of help in terms of naming the pieces, I set up the Menu below. Children can take “orders” using the Menu and dish it up for the “customers”.
This can be a great imaginative play idea, social interaction activity(how to order at a restaurant etc.) and also cultural discussion starter(discussing the origin of Sushi). Add prices to the Menu and you have a lovely Math activity too!
Thanks to Candace for the adorable felt Sushi and permission to share!
