My son is going through the superhero phase. So far we have made Superhero Capes, Superhero T-shirts and held a Superhero Party. He wanted a Captain America shield, so we improvised with recycling a lid and made one!

We reused a large plastic lid for the shield, together with a pipecleaner as handle:

material needed
I made two holes to put the pipecleaner through for the handle:

The pipecleaner handle did not hold, so hubby fixed it up with a duct tape handle. Much better actually because now the star looks better too(without the hump):

He loves his shield, that sometimes with his Superman cape makes him the coolest superhero in our house!
