Here is a fun camping puzzle for your little ones to practice number skills and number order. Simply print and use as a busy bag or quiet time activity!
Puzzles help children to develop visual perception skills and aid in visual closure as well. Children as young as 2 years will be able to fit the 4 piece puzzle together, after initial help. And your preschoolers will enjoy the 10 piece puzzle with the added numbers to help them build it!
Print on card stock or paper and then laminate it to make it more durable. Cut the 10 piece puzzle using the grey lines as guidelines. TIP: Using a craft knife and a ruler is the easiest way. Trim the edges after the initial cutting for a cleaner look. Do the same with the 4 piece puzzle. For toddlers- glue the image onto thick cardboard, like a piece of a packing box, to make it chunkier and easier to handle.
There are 2 puzzles with the same picture, making it great for sibling use and/or differentiation in a class. 4 piece puzzles are great beginner puzzles because it teaches young kids the concept of corners- the most useful skill in puzzle building. Finding the corners of a puzzle helps to visualize the entire picture.
If your child has mastered the 4 piece puzzle, move on to the 10 pieces. Here the numbers are an added bonus because it also teaches number order.
Use the pieces as a busy bag activity adding them to a small bag or box and you have a travel-friendly activity for when you are on the go!
