Estimation is a fun Math skill to teach early on. Use this free rainbow estimation game to have some fun while learning!

Grab the free printable on our Freebies page(instruction below), print and laminate it. Gather a bunch of colorful beads, buttons, sweets or pompoms and you are ready to play!

Each player gets a turn to grab a handful of beads. Place it in the middle of the rainbow page in the block. Each player gets a turn to guess/estimate how many beads they think there are WITHOUT counting. Then, the player that grabbed the beads, counts them.

He/she can count any way they like. This is a good opportunity to practice making groups or skip counting…

Use a different color bead for each player as play pieces. The player closest to the correct number moves 3 spaces forward. If a player is only 1 number out(one too many, one less) he/she can move 1 space. If a player is more than five out, he/she must move 5 spaces back. The bonus is the golden coin- if you land on it, you can move one more forward. The player that reaches the rainbow first, wins!

Such a fun way to practice estimation skills, plus counting too with this rainbow estimation game! Also, see this Place Value Game!
