Recycle and reuse chip containers to make musical shakers, paint it, fill it, then make some noise!

You only need a few materials to make these cute, noisy creatures in and it doesn’t take long either.
You will need:
- Empty chip containers
- Paint
- Marker pens
- A few foam shapes
- Glue
- Material to use for hair or headdresses (wool, cloth strips, crinkle paper, sisal or fake hair.
- Rice, beads, beans or even pasta to fill your containers
What to do:
Clean and paint your containers. Always use a base white base coat first, especially if you are going to use lighter colours. Let the kids decide on colours for the creatures. Once the base coat is dry, paint your containers in the chosen colours.

While the paint is drying, make the hair or headpieces. We used feathers as one of our hairpieces. Use a sharp object and poke a few holes through the lid of the container. Push the ends of the feathers through the holes.
For our next to creatures, we used coloured sisal and fake hair. Poke two holes through each lid and thread a piece of ribbon (to tie the sisal) through the one lid. Do the same with the remaining lid but use a piece of black pipe cleaner to tie the fake hair. secure with a small blob of glue if necessary. Once the hair was tied, we braided the fake hair for a fun look.

The paint should be dry by the time you are finished with hair. Glue the Googly eyes in place and use foam shapes to make noses and mouths.
Use the marker pens to add a few patterns and or eyebrows.

Lastly, fill your containers. You can use beads, rice, beans, dry pasta, lentils, almost anything that will make a noise. We used some pecan nuts from our tree in one of ours. Experiment by filling your containers to different levels. Add more or less of your chosen fillings until you have the desired sound.
Glue the lids into place to secure it and enjoy making noise!
