It is Rhyme Time again! Last week we had a fun Hickory Dickory Dock Craft!
This week we are learning the rhyme: Mary, Mary quite contrary! This rhyme inspired me to make a growth chart for my girl, you know: “how does your garden grow…”
I started of with a strip of calico, 200mm x 20mm. I had this piece of material in my cupboard, but if I had a wider piece, it would have been better.
Nevertheless, I drew the design first:
Painted the stem, leaves and flowers first. I have kept a good record of L’s growth the past 4.5 years. I used these to mark off her growth by printing flowers first.
L printed her hand at her current height, and I’m planning for her to do these in intervals. I gave it a quick iron to smooth it out, and to let the fabric paint set.
Next I added a ribbon edge to the chart, just to round it off.
Oh, I added some buttons on the flowers too:
Lastly I added a rod and some ribbon to hang it up:
