Learning Maths Online

We will be emigrating to Australia soon! This new change has brought on a *few* challenges as you can imagine. One of which is that my very Afrikaans kids must be schooled in English AND they both have to jump a year in grades. While I am able to teach them the language- reading, writing and conversational, I am unsure of Maths. I do not want to teach them methods I was taught since it was some years ago and the Australian curriculum might be different too. Then I stumbled across MathsOnline!
Learning Maths Online

MathsOnline is the solution! Not only is it specifically set up according to each Australian state, it is using technology(which my kids love) AND the videos are super helpful. It is also a bonus for us to hear the Australian accent, something we will have to get used to!

I am homeschooling my children at the moment to catch up on English and Maths. And it does help tremendously to have a program one can use without having to plan the lessons oneself. My 9 year old daughter can use it independently, most of the time. I do sit with my 6 year old, mostly to help keep him on track. I am convince that once he is used to the program, he would be able to work independently as well. (We do hands-on activities on each lesson too, which reinforces the concepts.)

Top three benefits according to parents using the program:

#1 The dramatic lift they see in their children’s confidence and attitude.

#2 Being able to learn at their own speed. With the ability to stop and rewind the teacher, they can watch the video tutorials as many times as they need to until they get it. Plus the teacher never gets annoyed or frustrated with them.

#3 Improved maths results and a whole lot less stress when it’s maths time for both parents and kids.

We(yes mommy too!) do enjoy the videos. The videos give great visual explanation to concepts without be distracting. Concepts are discussed clearly and if we need to, we can pause or rewatch a video until the concept is grasped. After each video there are questions to answer to see if the student understood the concept. The questions can also be redone if necessary.

A little bit more about MathsOnline’s teacher and founder Patrick Murray:

Pat Murray is internationally recognized as a pioneer in the field of online maths education. Using techniques developed over 24 years teaching across all levels, Pat specializes in creating unique video maths tutorials which are concise, easy to understand and effective. He has appeared numerous times on national TV and his programs have been featured on television, radio, in newspapers and in magazines. Since 2009, his programs have been integrated into the curriculum of more than 1380 schools across Australia, the United States, New Zealand and the UK.

Free Trial:

You can try out MathsOnline with a free trial and work through the first lesson in every topic to see if it could work for your child.
With a full membership, students gain access to all lessons from all grades. Lessons start at Kindergarten and go up to Year 12. Each family can add up to 3 students(and up the number too), each with their own login details, but still under the Parent’s account. Parents receive weekly progress reports per email and can view all activity for each student. The program thus keep record of all work done and progress, very useful!

Whether you need a full Maths curriculum for your homeschooled child or extra practice for your school-going child, MathsOnline is the answer! Go HERE to start your trial and to find answers to fees. PS- homeschooling mommies, do ask about offers specifically for you!
