Make a gingerbread house busy box from felt for your child to decorate over and over again!
What a fun busy box I have for you today! A gingerbread house busy box! Your young child will love to decorate this gingerbread house over and over and over again! (PS- see our collection of felt busy boxes HERE or check out our ebooks 14 Fun Felt Busy Box Ideas and 10 More Fun Felt Busy Box Ideas).
You will need:
- a variety of felt colors
- pipecleaners
- fabric markers
- mini pompoms
- box(plastic or carton) with flip lid
- house template (You will find the free template for the house on our freebies page, download instructions below).
Cut the house from felt using the free template(you can find it on our Freebies page under “Christmas”.

Then, cut felt sweets/candy like I did: candy canes, candy in wrappers, round sweets etc. Use the fabric markers to color the candy if you wish. Use the pipecleaners to make more candy, like lollipops and color it too.
Bend the pipecleaners so it resembles the icing. You can make as many as you’d like, make different sizes too.

Lastly, add all the pieces to the box. Line the lid with another piece of felt. Then, your gingerbread house is ready to be built and decorated! Younger kids might need an adult’s help to build the house, then they could decorate it themselves.

A fun gingerbread house busy box, perfect for preschoolers or kindergartners AND perfect for the holiday season! It is travel-friendly and quiet too!
