Make a CD and French knitting coaster as a lovely gift for gran, mommy or a teacher!

We have been working hard on the French knitting skill. It is something our school teaches the grade 1’s to do because it is very good for fine motor skills and really a great hobby. My 7-year-old and I knitted this pink strip together and then made her a coaster, reusing a CD!
To make this coaster you will need:
- A cd
- french knitting coiled to fit the cd( I cannot say how long your string will be, because it depends on the thickness too)
- piece of felt
- decorative pieces
- strong glue/glue gun

Cut a piece of felt to add to the back of the cd coaster, to prevent slipping. The easiest way to cut a round piece is to fold the felt twice as shown below, place the folded piece in the middle of the cd, then cut around the edge of the cd.

Glue the felt piece and the coiled French knitted string securely onto the cd. Add decorative pieces if you want, but obviously, nothing that will make a mug or glass unstable.

And there you have a pretty CD and French knitting coaster! Great gift idea AND it reused an unused CD, thus perfect for our series Recycle and Create for Earth Day!
