Going camping soon? Here are 3 (free) camping writing prompts to get the creative juices flowing in a writing lesson!

When it comes to creative writing, it is a good idea to start with a lot of questions about the subject and talk it out before putting pencil to paper. Ask questions like: Who likes to go camping? Do you camp in a tent, caravan or RV? What do you pack when you go camping? What do you eat when camping? All kinds of questions one can use to develop creative writing skills in a writing lesson with the theme CAMP!
Student instructions: Pick one writing prompt, or use all 3! Include details of your camping trip(write in the past tense), tell us about what you will pack when you are going camping(write in the future tense) and what do you consider camping food(write in the present tense). Be as descriptive as you can, we want to see, hear and smell your camping experience!

Use these no-prep writing prompts before or after the holidays to help your students to practice creative writing skills!

My oldest doesn’t need a writing prompt; he writes all the time. But this would be a great way to inspire my younger two. Thanks for sharing! (I may even use this with my fifth graders after we go on their “camping” trip.
