It is time for a few Apple activities, brought to you by a bunch of creative kid bloggers! Last month we had Shape Puzzles as part of this monthly blog hop, have you seen it?

Now onto the apple activity: I made this quiet book page from felt and apple buttons!

apple tree quiet book
It is a fine motor skills activity as well as differentiate between the big, medium and small apple trees. Almost like a puzzle!

I used green, brown and white felt, together with apple buttons.

material needed
First I cut all the shapes: cutting a big, medium and small trees and a strip of grass.

felt pieces
Then I used a glue gun to glue down the tree stumps and grass.

glueing
I cut slits into the tree tops for the buttons to go through, by bending the felt as seen in the picture below.

cutting slits
To help me with getting the apples in the right spot, I used an ink pad to make markings for where the apples must go according to the slits of the tree. I put the apples in their place, dabbed them on the ink pad, then pressed the tree where it must go, marking for me to show me where to sew the buttons.

sewing buttons
I did that with all three trees and sewed on the apple buttons, this part took the longest.

writing
I added the words big, medium, small with a marker. The idea is to get the right size tree top onto the right sized tree stump by fastening it with the buttons. Fine motor skills, thinking skills, differentiating skills and matching skills are all at work here.
