Playing with paint hold so many benefits for children. It fosters creativity, teaches them to think with an open mind, it relieves stress, it has sensory benefits and it’s so much fun!

We had some fun with black paint we had on hand and different objects, but a warning- it gets messy! Work on old newspaper and wear old clothes or an apron! We used objects such as empty toilet roll, toothbrush, lego block, car, dinosaur, sponge and a spinning top to experiment with. We saw all the interesting prints the different objects made on white paper. My boy obviously enjoyed the car tracks the most and that is why his hands was also covered in the “mud” later.

Then, I got into “lets use this mess as a teaching opportunity” mode and I made numbers that he could trace with the lego block.

He also traced letters to create words. These words can be any words your child is learning at the moment to enhance learning by pairing it with a sensory experience.

The dinosaur HAD to come make his prints and with all the sound effects it was so much fun.

I heard this powerful truth that kids spell Love – TIME. So, invest some time and start to play with paint with your child! Use the mess and turn it into learning time too!
