Make a pretty Christmas tree handprint keepsake from salt dough as a gift for the grandparents or as keepsake for yourself.
Today is the first day of our annual series called Kid-made Gifts Series! I am sharing this totally cute Christmas handprint and photo keepsake, the perfect kid-made gift for a loved one!
You will need:
- Green salt dough(equal parts flour and salt, mixed with half water. We used 1 cup of flour, 1 cup of salt and 1/2 cup of water together with a few drops of green food colouring)
- Star cookie cutter
- green glitter
- Cookie Letter Stamps

What to do:
Roll the dough out, about 1 cm thick. Then press one hand and another so it overlaps. I used the hand of each of my kids. Turn the dough around so that the hands are upside down, making the “tree”. Cut a triangular shape around the hands.

Use the cookie cutter to press a star for the photo space. Add the date with the letter stamps.
Bake the dough for about 3 hours on low(80’C/160’F) and then let it cool down completely.
Add glitter as you wish. I liked it at the “branches”, the fingers and the very top.
Add the photo to the back using any adhesive. I used Glue Dots. I did not make holes for adding a string to hang it up this time because it is quite big and heavy. The keepsake will stand nicely on its own or using a plate stand like this.
A lovely salt dough keepsake photo frame idea to make this festive season!
