Moon Sand aka Cloud Dough is fun to play with and so soft! If you want your baby to join in the fun, you need an edible version right? And here it is! Edible Moon Sand!

She helped me “make” it and then had fun playing. Only the following day I got baby in the sand, he did not really care for the feel of it.
Here is the recipe:
– 2.5kg cake flour
– about half of a 350g wheat bran packet
– 750 ml cooking oil
You can use only the flour and oil, I added the bran to make it look like real sand. Or you can use brown bread flour, I did not because it worked out cheaper with the flour and bran because the flour was on special.
The original recipe for moon sand calls for baby oil, it does smell nice, but is not edible, so that is why I substituted it for cooking oil. This is a nice alternative for babies who tends to place everything in their mouths. It does resemble real sand, actually softer and you can still build castles etc. I won’t add water because then you can’t keep it, so rather use as is. If you want to colour it, you can use powder paint, but then it won’t be edible any more.(we’ll probably do that just before we throw it out, just to see how it looks.
Happy playing!
