Are you planning a party? Perhaps a Candy Crush one? Or a Christmas one? (Then use the colors red, green and white!) Make these colorful decorations in a flash, with minimal materials needed.

CD Candies

You will need:

  • Old Cd’s or Dvd’s (two disks per candy)
  • Paint – primer and few colors
  • Wooden skewers
  • Glue
  • Plastic packets
  • Ribbon

What to do:

Clean your cd’s and paint with a multipurpose primer. If you used dvd markers on your disks, you may need two to three coats of primer. Make sure to let the primer dry thoroughly in between coats. I made the initial mistake to let my disks dry on newspaper which resulted in the newspaper sticking to the edges of the disks. I quickly learned out the mistake and for the next disks, balanced them on my paint pots, which solved the problem.

Candies How-to

Once the primer is dry, paint patterns on your disks. Remember you need two disks per candy for the front and back, so paint pairs of more or less the same patterns. Paint your skewers white.

Once your paint is dry, glue the skewer to the back of the disk. Glue the back of the second disk over the skewer.

Wrap your candies in a plastic packet and add a piece of ribbon.

You will need:

  • A polystyrene ball
  • A takeaway cup cover to fit over the ball
  • Dowel stick
  • Primer
  • Paint
  • Plastic packet and ribbon.

What to do:

I used a float for my ball and the lid from a small KFC bucket happened to be a perfect fit. You can however also use a polystyrene ball.

Paint your ball, lid and dowel stick with a multipurpose primer. Once the primer is dry, paint your desired colour.

Lollipop how-to

Glue the lid onto the ball and insert the dowel stick. Give your lolly another coat of colour to ensure and even layer. Use two or three shades of the same colour and paint a few twirls. Once the paint is dry, package your lolly and add a ribbon.

Sweets

You will need:

  • Toilet rolls
  • Match boxes
  • Paper
  • Cellophane

What to do:

Cut your toilet rolls a bit shorter, cover with paper. Cut a thin strip of paper of a different colour and twirl around the roll. Secure the edges with a string or cotton.

Sweets How-to

Paint your matchboxes the same color as your cellophane paper. Wrap the matchboxes and secure the edges with a bit of tape.
