In keeping with our reuse and recycle theme for this month, I made this butterfly memory game by reusing lids for this month’s Kids Activity Hop with the theme Bugs & Butterflies!memory game

(Affiliate links included for your convenience)

For this activity I have used 10 lids from jars(since I needed big-ish lids)and these type if foam stickers:

lids & stickers

I simply stuck two of each sticker on the inside of the lid, these are the pairs of “friends” to match.

sticker pairs

Then, a round paper was stuck on the outside because one of the lids had a different marking and you know how clever kids can be… I added these to a tray:

Time to Play

Take turns turning two lids around in search of two of the same “friends”. If it is not the same, turn it back again and try to remember where you have seem it for next time!

Try to get as many pairs as you can, the one with the most, wins!

We only played with 10 lids, so 5 matching sets. One could play with more or less, depending on the age and ability of the child. A child can also play  individually.

This is a great game for working memory and it is fun and frugal too! Have you seen these 20+ Toys made from Recyclables yet? Awesome ideas!
