We had to move our bunny cage again! (With all the rain the bunnies keep on digging holes that collapse, and then they escape!) So, we sat with a clear square spot(so ugly!), and then I remembered this from The Imagination Tree, and we made our own: a real play garden!
This is what it looked like after we moved the cage, bought the supplies from the nursery and then after the initial lay down.
We added some detail, but this will change(and did already) with time. I specifically kept the plants potted, rather than planting them in the soil, because I know how much my daughter loves to rearrange, and here she can do it to her hearts desire!
We added some sturdy old pots we don’t use. For sitting on(or jumping), or to turn it around to fill up with digged up soil..
I bought three different sized plastic pots(incidental learning) for playing, and planting. The stand is a old one we “inherited”, perfect for this space.
A few gardening tools were added, and these old boots we still want to use as planters against the wall.
We added some bricks for a road, and then I remembered the spool we have: perfect for a table! The bottom part is a road too, an I am still thinking on how the kids can decorated the “table” with art work.
AND the top hole is a perfect fit for the umbrella on sunny days!
This play garden is perfect for sensory input, nature talks, science experiments, and overall imaginative play! So, if you are looking for us, check the play garden, we might just be there the whole day!
